International Black Cat Awareness Month: Happy 10th Anniversary
International Black Cat Awareness Month turns 10. Layla Morgan Wilde keeps black cats from being overlooked, and Sitehound Vet keeps open vaccine bottles from being overlooked too.

Started by holistic cat expert Layla Morgan Wilde at her kitchen table in 2011, International Black Cat Awareness Month was officially launched in October of 2016. We at Sitehound Vet want to congratulate Wilde on the past 10 years of officially giving "overlooked black cats a month of their own."
For years, superstition made it more difficult for black cats to find a loving family, and many shelters had even stopped adopting them out in the month of October for fear of irresponsible holiday adoptions. Thanks to Wilde's devotion to "house panthers," #BlackCatsAwarenessMonth has proven to be quite successful in finding homes for the abandoned beauties.
While black cats are often overlooked, Sitehound Vet would like to issue a friendly reminder that even Bombays, American Shorthairs, and Persians need their shots. So how does Sitehound help veterinary practices streamline their vaccination procedures?
Sitehound is your instant calendar and calculator, tracking your medications in real time. From the moment the purchase order is received, the app logs the lot number, the expiration date, and where the vaccine will live until it's administered. Your inventory manager receives a daily briefing of what needs attention and has access to a dashboard that shows any medications set to expire. Sitehound also flags every item that's pulled, with the reason stated, a name, and a timestamp, so you have a record you can hand to an inspector on request.
Just like Wilde is dedicated to keeping black cats from being overlooked, Sitehound is dedicated to saying goodbye to overlooked open bottles of vaccine. With Sitehound, when a vet tech reaches for the next box of FVRCP or rabies vaccine, not only can they be certain it will be there, but Sitehound will tell them if and where they can find an already opened vaccine that has been given a beyond-use date, eliminating unnecessary waste.
Don't let your vaccine refrigerator look like a black cat shelter in October. Make sure the already open bottles are used first.
